AmpX Technologies designs and builds next-generation power electronics for energy conversion.
The company’s flagship product is an electrically integrated on-board charger and auxiliary power module capable of charging both high-voltage (400-1000 V) and low-voltage (12-48 V) batteries. AmpX is also developing a compact, low-cost, solarintegrated, multi-port power electronics system for homes.
AmpX was spun out of the research of co-founders Alireza Khaligh, professor, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at UMD, and Zeyu Zhang, UMD alumnus, Ph.D., electrical and computer engineering, 2019. Khaligh serves as AmpX’s president, while Zhang is vice president of Engineering.
The company’s combo charger was tested in Genovation’s supercar, GXE, shown below, the world’s first street-legal all-electric car to break the 200-mph speed barrier.
