Job Opening: Program Manager of Events and Competitions, IDEA Factory (full-time)

The Maryland Technology Enterprise Institute (Mtech) seeks a professional to design, manage, and oversee all aspects of the IDEA Factory program’s annual venture-building competition and events. The Program Manager of Events and Competitions will work closely with the Marketing and Associate Directors to reach out to student organizations and plan events and activities to encourage participation in IDEA Factory programs.

In addition, the Program Manager, will plan and coordinate day-to-day meetings, workshops, and training sessions and create an environment conducive to effective project management and fostering collaboration among program participants.

This position will plan luncheons, dinners, and speaking engagements featuring notable speakers, produce and host conferences on and off campus, and plan and produce remote speaking events. The Program Manager of Events and Competitions will be responsible for increasing student participation in program events and projects. This will involve setting clear project objectives, establishing milestones, allocating resources, monitoring progress, and resolving any challenges that may arise.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in event management, marketing, communications, or a related field.

Experience Required

  • A minimum of four years of experience in providing operations, events, communications, budgetary, and/or administrative support in a complex and dynamic environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience managing complex events, including conferences and speaking engagements
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated success in increasing student participation in events and programs.
  • Experience managing event budgets.
  • Knowledge of event management software and tools.
