COLLEGE PARK, MD—The Maryland Technology Enterprise Institute celebrated 20 years of innovative programs for promoting entrepreneurship, research, and joint faculty/company partnerships on May 25, 2005, with a reception in the new Jeong H. Kim Engineering Building.

Maryland Governor Robert L. Erlich, Jr., proclaimed May 25 as Maryland Technology Enterprise Institute Day.

Dr. Nariman Farvardin, dean of the A. James Clark School of Engineering, identified MTECH as the vital link between the Clark School and the world of business, directly applying the school’s research and educational capabilities in service to new and growing businesses.

Dr. William "Brit" Kirwan, chancellor of the University System of Maryland, said he got "goose bumps" 20 years ago when he heard the ideas for MTECH's programs.

Dr. C.D. Mote, Jr. president of the University of Maryland, recognized MTECH's mission in fulfilling the university's flagship role of reaching out to the community.
