EIP Students Take First Place in the Deloitte Startup Maryland Competition

EIP senior Tristan Prejean and freshman Victoria Chang were part of a team that won first place in the Deloitte Startup Maryland innovation competition.

Students in the competition were challenged to propose a new, technology-related solution to improve their campus. Through the course of a week, they then developed their pitch with the help of Deloitte professionals, who emphasized lean startup concepts and bringing their ideas to market.

The winning team, called Fuse, was awarded first place for an app that addresses how students find roommates. Universities often spend thousands of dollars on roommate-matching software that most students never use. Fuse would implement a Tinder-like interface that allows on- and off-campus students to find roommates with similar interests, habits and lifestyles.

Deloitte currently employs 15 EIP alumni and graduating students.
