The Mtech-China Programs for Entrepreneurs & Innovators at the University of Maryland offer an exciting experience for exploring entrepreneurship and innovation in the Washington, D.C. area.  Students attend interactive classes, enjoy field trips and guest speakers, work on ideas, and design team projects in business and entrepreneurship. The learning continues beyond the classroom. Seminars, workshops, and social activities encourage the exchange of innovative ideas and lend to the development of lasting friendships. Students have access to many of the same world-class facilities used by university students and will fully experience collegiate life at the University of Maryland!

China High School Entrepreneurs & Innovators Program

Each July, the University of Maryland's Young Scholars Program hosts high school students with exceptional ability and promise to enjoy an amazing college experience. In the Young Scholars Program, students select one three-credit course, devoting a large part of the 3 weeks to attending class, enjoying field trips or guest speakers, and working on team projects. The Young Scholars Program offers courses in a broad range of theme areas, to include courses in entrepreneurship and innovation.

China Undergraduate Entrepreneurs & Innovators Program

In the course on “Discovering New Ventures - Foundations of Entrepreneurship,” students meet every day for four hours, Monday–Friday for 10 weekdays. The class will explore dynamic business and technology topics by working in teams to design a new business concept. This exciting, multi-disciplinary course helps students learn the basic business, strategy, and leadership skills needed to launch new ventures. They will also learn how to assess the feasibility of a startup venture, as well as how to apply best practices for planning, launching, and managing new companies. Focus areas include recognizing opportunities, assessing the skills and talents of successful entrepreneurs, and learning models that help navigate uncertainty. Leading ventures explored include Apple, Facebook, Google, Microsoft, and many other exciting, innovative companies. Specific topics discussed in the course include:

  • The Revolutionary Impact and Evolutionary Development of Entrepreneurship
  • Creativity and Innovation
  • Assessment of Entrepreneurial Opportunities
