As director of Mtech’s expansive Office of Business, Finance, and Facilities, Daniel Carafelli serves as the Institute’s chief business officer, leading wide-ranging operations and overseeing a diverse portfolio of financial and capital assets. Mtech’s subject matter expert for aviation, transportation, and supply chain management, Dan also holds a concurrent academic appointment as a senior research fellow in the Supply Chain Management Center at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business. His interests include emerging technologies, capital procurement strategies, and global supply chains for aviation, transportation, and the built environment. Dan’s broad executive experience encompasses all aspects of university finance, administration, and operations. During his lengthy tenure at Maryland he has directed major programs, led significant information technology projects, produced important websites, and played an active role in developing and managing the built environment. Prior to joining Mtech he held leadership positions with the campus Department of Transportation Services, University Facilities Management, and Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute. Dan is a professionally certified member of the Institute for Supply Management (ISM), ISM Logistics and Transportation Group, ISM Supply Chain Risk Management Group, and ISM Global Group. He is a three-time graduate of the University of Maryland University College.
