Removing Heavy Metals from Wastewater

Abstract

This manual provides general guidelines on how to remove dissolved metals from wastewaters for discharge to sanitary sewer systems. Each of the various stages or operations of wastewater treatment is discussed with their role in the metals removal process. The treatment scheme described is general for metals removal. Some variations exist among different systems. This manual is intended to provide, in layman's terms, a better understanding of the precipitation process as applied to industrial wastewater treatment.
