ISM LOGISTICS AND TRANSPORTATION GROUP

Professionally Certified Member

Logistics can be defined as the process of planning, implementing and managing the efficient, cost-effective movement of people or goods, along with related information, from one point to another. Transportation is the critical means by which everything actually moves and no economy can function without it. Commercial enterprises rely on the timely movement of equipment, raw materials and finished products while communities are equally dependent on safe, reliable, efficient and effective passenger transportation systems for their citizens.

ISM Logistics and Transportation Group membership includes purchasing, transportation and supply management professionals at all levels of business, government and education. Group membership includes those responsible for selecting, acquiring and managing logistics and transportation services for their organizations as well as those responsible for planning, selecting and acquiring the infrastructure, equipment, goods and services necessary for supporting commercial and public transportation systems. The ISM Logistics and Transportation Group provides its members with a central resource for education and networking as they seek to improve and optimize purchasing and supply management processes unique to transportation and logistics.

The Institute for Supply Management (ISM), recognizing the importance of logistics and transportation in supply management, offers an extensive portfolio of educational programs for professionals working in these critical areas.

AIRPORT PURCHASING GROUP

Professionally Certified Member

Today’s modern airport represents the most challenging exercise in site selection, land use planning, environmental stewardship, master facilities planning and design, engineering and construction, and the ongoing management of real property, major facilities and multifaceted operations. Airports collectively spend billions of dollars each year for infrastructure, equipment, vehicles, products and services in meeting that challenge.

The Airport Purchasing Group (APG), the highly regarded association for airport procurement professionals, maintains the body of knowledge required for successfully identifying, selecting, contracting and managing the diverse resources and capabilities necessary for the design, construction, maintenance, renovation and day to day operation of a major public airport. APG conferences, meetings and member collaboration continuously provide the latest sources of information and best practices for managing the airport spend.

Due to the extraordinarily broad and complex nature of the airport enterprise; the APG body of knowledge is equally applicable in any setting requiring the design, construction, maintenance and management of the built environment on a large scale including cities, universities, research parks, industrial complexes and surface transportation systems.
